Introduces students to the basics of hemp agribusiness; surveys the history of hemp in Kentucky and the US, hemp identification, hemp cultivation and processing, career options, marketable products, and compliance. Classify gender, strains, and structure of hemp. Recognize products utilizing hemp and recount their uses and benefits. Recite landmark decisions in the history of hemp. Know the techniques used for hemp cultivation for different product requirements. Understand the basic processing mechanisms for hemp, including ethanol and CO2 extraction. Identify details about career options in the hemp industry and additional trainings necessary for each of those options. Apply government regulations related to hemp production, distribution, and sales.
