Bluegrass Community & Technical College’s (BCTC) Workforce Solutions is partnering with the Bluegrass Workforce Investment Board and Kenney Orthopedics to offer a short term training program at no cost to participants that will result in employment for successful completers.
The Orthotics and Prosthetics Laboratory Technician training will consist of a 40-hour classroom/lab introduction and training at the BCTC Leestown campus followed by a paid 160-hour live work-based educational internship onsite at Kenney Orthopedics. The only cost to participants will be a $30 background check.
Orthotics and Prosthetics Laboratory Technicians fabricate, repair and maintain artificial limbs and braces, and work with patients under supervision of certified practitioners. They do rewarding work and are in great demand.
Interested participants should attend an informational orientation session at Bluegrass Community & Technical College’s Leestown campus, 164 Opportunity Way, Lexington, on March 7 at 6:00 p.m. in the Manufacturing-Technology Building, Room 122. Map and directions can be found at: https://bluegrass.kctcs.edu/about/our_campuses/leestown.aspx. They should bring a one page resume and be prepared to speak with company representatives about why they should be chosen for this opportunity.
All questions about the program, employment, etc. should be directed to BCTC Workforce Solutions Assistant Dean Laura Lynch at 859-246-6583 or via e-mail at laura.lynch@kctcs.edu.
