The Red Cross is seeking Volunteers to help assist in making homes safer and saving lives in the Lexington and Richmond/Berea communities!!
Did you know that, in the U.S., 7 people die every day from a home fire? The American Red Cross began our Home Fire Campaign in 2014 with the aim to reduce the risk of death or injury from home fire by 25% and has since installed over 1,000,000 free smoke alarms and saved 260 lives throughout the nation – including 27 right here in the Kentucky Region!
This is an extension of our Home Fire Preparedness Campaign with a goal to install 1,000 smoke alarms. We will be installing smoke alarms in two locations; Lexington and the Richmond/Berea area. To accomplish this goal, we will need your assistance. We are inviting and encouraging everyone to step up and assist us in reaching our goal! If you would like to help with this event, please register today!

Saturday Apr 28, 2018
9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EDT
The event will be taking place on Saturday, April 28, 2018 starting at 9:00 am and lasting until about 5:00 pm.
You will not be required to stay the entire 8 hours and we will also be offering additional orientations if you cannot make the 9:00 training.
The event is scheduled from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. However, we are hoping to have enough help so that each group of volunteers will only need to canvas and install smoke alarms in a specific area. This means that you would not be working the entire 8 hours.
We will start with an orientation and training at 9:00 and embark in installing smoke alarms by 10:00. If you cannot make the 9:00 orientation and training we will also be offering additional orientations and trainings during the day.
The Lexington meeting place is at Winburn Middle School (1060 Winburn Dr, Lexington, KY 40511).
The Richmond event meeting place is at the Madison County FD (560 South Keeneland, Richmond, KY 40475).
There is no admission for this event other than you time to assist in making homes safer.
Every volunteer will receive a Red Cross T-Shirt the day of the event at the orientaiton/registration. In addition to this you will also receive a food voucher for a local resturant for your lunch.
After you register for the event please send an email to rich.deangelis@redcross.org and include your T-Shirt size.
