Job Description
Summary:  Habitat for Humanity of Madison & Clark Counties is seeking a mission-oriented Construction Project Manager to coordinate and complete single family home construction and repair projects through project management, carpentry, and volunteer crew leading.  The Construction Project Manager will enthusiastically promote the mission of Habitat for Humanity and must have the capacity to be highly engaged with a diverse group of people in a very active environment.  The Construction Project Manager must promote safety, must be able to teach volunteers, and must adhere to project schedules and budgets.
Reports to: Construction Director
Status: Full-time hourly, Nonexempt
Time requirements: Full-time hourly; some seasonal fluctuation; weekends and some evenings. Arrives to work on time and completes assignments.
1. Project Management (40% of time)
  • Coordinate and complete construction projects in accordance with the construction schedule, volunteer schedule, technical plans, and building code requirements.
  • Coordinates and schedules inspections and subcontractors, as needed.
  • Estimate tool and material quantities. Orders and receives deliveries in manner that promotes a good site management and safety practices.
2. Volunteer Management (40% of time)
  • Prepare for expected and unexpected volunteers prior to volunteer work days.
  • Coordinate directly with the Community Engagement Manager about upcoming volunteer needs and adjustments in the volunteer schedule.
  • Leads the effort in volunteer retention. Assists in identification and recruitment of key volunteers.
3. Carpentry (20% of time)
  • Performs regular carpentry and home construction tasks, as required.
  • Works alongside volunteers but delegates appropriate work for varying abilities.
1. Safety Risk Management
  • Complete all required safety inspections and meetings to assure compliance with OSHA safety standards.
  • Ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear are available for staff and volunteers on site.
  • Ensure all work activities are conducted using approved safety procedures and appropriate PPE.
2. Resource Management
  • Assures materials, tools, and equipment are well kept, suitable, and safe for volunteer labor.
  • Alert Construction Director to needed maintenance and repairs for tools, equipment and vehicles.
  • Be conscientious of labor hour expense and submit accurate time reports.
  • Possess a full understanding and significant experience in home building & construction methods.
  • Effective teaching, coaching, and mentoring skills with the ability to engage large groups of people in purposeful activities.
  • Able to work effectively & with efficacy with skilled & unskilled volunteers.
  • Excellent resource management skills.
  • Able to work outdoors.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must be able to meet the physical rigor of working on feet, handling material up to 50 lbs, and varied range of motions needed to perform a wide range of construction activities.
  • Skilled in use of computer programs related to general project management operations.
  • Ability to speak publicly about the mission of Habitat for Humanity and encourage support from volunteers, donors, suppliers and contractors
