The American Red Cross is taking our Home Fire Campaign to the next level. This coming September, we will join together with our partners, across the Nation, to launch a campaign -Sound the Alarm. Save A Life. During this blitz from September 22nd ? October 15th, Red Cross and our partner volunteers will be attempting to install 100,000 free smoke alarms across more than 100 major city markets. This is a big step for us, and will get everyone involved in our mission, drive community connections and, most importantly?save more lives!
On Saturday, October 14, 2017 the Bluegrass Area Chapter will be hosting one of these events. Our goal is to install 1,000 smoke alarms in homes, free of charge, in pre-selected neighborhoods! We will be focusing our efforts in the Lexington and Richmond/Berea communities. To make this event successful and to accomplish our goal, we need the help of our community.
Training provided the morning of the event!
The first training will start at 9:00 am. We will have additional trainings for those not able to be there at 9:00.

Date and Time
Saturday Oct 14, 2017
9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EDT
The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 14, 2017. We will start with an Orientation/Training at 9:00 am at both locations. Additional Orientations/Trainings will be available if you cannot be there at 9:00 am.
The event is scheduled to last until 5:00 pm but we do not expect volunteers to work the entire 8 hours. We hope to have enough volunteers so that each group has a specific neighborhood to canvas and install smoke alarms. When you have covered your neighborhood you can choose to return to the meeting place to return your tools and remaining materials or you can canvas and install smoke alarms in another neighborhood.
